The Problem I Was Facing
This project was created to solve a real problem for the Quotes App. The app originally relied on a third-party quotes API, but that API later changed significantly and moved important access behind a paywall. I realized that depending on a paid quotes provider could become costly and risky over time.
How It Works
Instead of depending on a paid quotes provider, I built a backend that stores quotes in our own Supabase PostgreSQL database and uses Gemini AI to generate new quote content.
A scheduled GitHub Actions workflow triggers the AI to create new quotes every day. Generated quotes are validated, cleaned, checked for duplicates, and saved into the database.
My Goal
Provide a no-cost quotes API for the app without depending on a paid third-party service. I am committed to keeping this platform free and open-source forever.
